Among the most significant diseases are challenges associated with porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus (PRRSv), breeding herd diseases (parvovirus, leptospirosis and erysipelas) and neonatal diarrhea.

Para Shield® - 50 dose

Glasserella (Haemophilus) parasuis can develop suddenly, often resulting in death in less than two days, even in visibly healthy pigs. Stressors associated with weaning and the nursery environment significantly increase disease possibility.

Parvo Shield® - 50 dose

Consistent conception and farrowing rates for large litters can be impacted by disease challenges in prebreeding. Parvo Shield® L5E provides protection against parvovirus, five leptospirosis strains, and erysipelas to protect against reproductive loss.

Pili Shield® - 50 dose

E. coli possesses fimbriae, or pili, that allow them to adhere and colonize in digestive tracts, often resulting in diarrhea, dehydration and acidosis in young and nursing pigs. Protecting piglets with PiliShield through consumed maternal antibodies at birth prevents attachment of E. coli to gut walls.

Rhini Shield® - 20 Gilt/Sow dose or 50/100 Piglet dose

Rhini Shield® has been shown to be effective for vaccination of healthy pregnant swine to provide passive immunity against atrophic rhinitis caused by Bordetella Bronchiseptica and by the toxin of Pasteurella multocida Type D when piglets are also vaccinated at 7 days of age.

This product has also been shown to be effective for vaccination of healthy swine, 7 days of age or older, against pneumonia caused by Pasteurella multocida Type A and against erysipelas caused by Erysipelothrix rhusiopathiae. The duration of immunity for this product has not been established.

Para Shield®

INDICATIONS:

  • This product has been shown to be effective for the vaccination of healthy swine against disease caused by Glaesserella parasuis.
  • The duration of immunity for this product has not been established. For more information regarding efficacy and safety data, see productdata.aphis.usda.gov.


DIRECTIONS FOR USE:

  • Shake well before using. Administer 2 mL intramuscularly at 3 to 4 weeks of age.
  • Repeat in 2 to 3 weeks. Historically, annual revaccination has been recommended for this product.
  • The need for this booster has not been established. For advice on revaccination frequency, in general or in the face of maternal antibody, stress or a disease exposure, consultation with a veterinarian is recommended.

Parvo Shield®

INDICATIONS:

  • This product has been shown to be effective for the vaccination of healthy swine against disease caused by porcine parvovirus, Erysipelthrix rhusiopathiae, and Leptospira canicola, grippotyphosa, hardjo, icterohaemorrhagiae, and pomona.
  • This product was licensed prior to the requirement to establish a minimum age for use.
  • The duration of immunity for this product has not been established. For more information regarding efficacy and safety data, see productdata.aphis.usda.gov.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE:

  • Shake well before using.
  • Administer 5 mL intramuscularly to gilts and sows 4 to 6 weeks prior to breeding.
  • Repeat in 3 to 4 weeks.
  • Revaccinate with a single dose 4 to 6 weeks prior to each subsequent breeding.
  • Vaccinate boars semiannually.

Pili Shield®

INDICATIONS:

  • This product has been shown to be effective for the vaccination of healthy pregnant swine to provide passive immunity in piglets against disease caused by Clostridium perfringens Type C and K88, K99, 987P, and F41 piliated Escherichia coli. The duration of immunity for these antigens has not been established. For more information go to productdata.aphis.usda.gov.


DIRECTIONS:

  • Shake well before using.
  • Administer 2 mL intramuscularly at 5 and 2 weeks prior to farrowing. It is essential that newborn pigs receive colostrum from the vaccinated dam.
  • Revaccinate prior to each subsequent farrowing.

Prevacent® PRRS

INDICATIONS:

  • This product has been shown to be effective for the vaccination of healthy pigs 2 weeks of age or older against PRRS respiratory disease; and against reproductive disease when vaccinated 6 weeks prior to breeding.
  • The duration of immunity against respiratory disease is at least 26 weeks.
  • The duration of immunity against reproductive disease has not been established. For more information regarding efficacy and safety data, go to productdata.aphis.usda.gov.
  • Safety of this product has been demonstrated when sows or gilts are vaccinated prior to breeding or at any stage of pregnancy.
  • Vaccine virus may be shed and transmitted to other populations of swine in contact with vaccinated swine.
  • The duration of potential vaccine virus transmission may vary.
  • Use of the vaccine in herds intended to remain PRRS virus seronegative is contraindicated.
  • Introduction of vaccinated pigs into herds intended to remain PRRS virus seronegative is contraindicated.

DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION:

  • Rehydrate with the accompanying sterile diluent.
  • Shake well and draw back into the syringe the required amount.
  • Administer 1 mL intramuscularly.
  • The need for annual booster vaccinations has not been established for this product; consultation with a veterinarian is recommended.

  • Anaphylactic reactions may occur. Symptomatic treatment: Epinephrine.  Contains gentamicin as preservative.


Rhini Shield®

INDICATIONS: This product has been shown to be effective for vaccination of healthy pregnant swine to provide passive immunity against atrophic rhinitis caused by Bordetella Bronchiseptica and by the toxin of Pasteurella multocida Type D when piglets are also vaccinated at 7 days of age.
