Pradalexᵀᴹ (pradofloxacin injection)

Pradalexᵀᴹ (pradofloxacin injection)

Pradalex is an innovative third generation fluoroquinolone antibiotic for the treatment of bovine respiratory disease (BRD). Pradofloxacin, the active ingredient in Pradalex, uniquely features two modes of action yielding improved potency and a broader spectrum of activity relative to other fluoroquinolone antibiotics, enabling your cattle to get back to health sooner.¹

  • Concentration dependent antibiotic with a dual mode of action that kills bacteria before they can replicate
  • Highly potent and rapidly absorbed, delivering faster*  BRD treatment than traditional time-dependent antibiotics
  • Quickly eliminated from the body, resulting in a shorter withdrawal period, less potential impact on the microbiome, and reduced chance for resistance development
  • Convenient, single dose, low-volume antibiotic with best-in-class syringeability
  • Indicated for the treatment of BRD associated with Mannheimia haemolytica, Pasteurella multocida, Histophilus somni and Mycoplasma bovis

*Clinical relevance unknown.

Mode of Action Matters

Pradalex is different from other fluoroquinolone antibiotics used to treat BRD because it has equal affinity for both enzymes responsible for DNA replication in both gram-negative and gram-positive organisms.

Pradalex is the most potent fluoroquinolone antibiotic. Because Pradalex is bactericidal and targets DNA, it kills bacteria in both the resting and growth phases of bacterial development.2,3 These features combined with fast absorption and rapid elimination work together to reduce the risk of developing resistant bacteria and make Pradalex an excellent choice as a treatment antibiotic.
