Joel Thompson, field services coordinator with Clear View Farm Services (https://www.cve-fs.com/) based in Arkansas, knows a thing or two about the poultry industry. In fact, he’s been connected to the industry his entire life. After he graduated from the University of Arkansas with a bachelor’s degree in poultry science, and a few years at Tyson Foods as a supervisor, he decided to join his father and started working at Clear View Farm Services, where his father is a partner.

Clear View Farm Services, established in 2018 and owned by Clear View Enterprises, provides professional pest control services for integrated poultry producers. In addition to locations in Arkansas and North Carolina, the company has operations in Maryland and Georgia, serving producers in five states.

“Our main focus is assisting our customer,” said Thompson. “We want to ensure our recommendation is with the highest quality products and their program is fully functioning, audited and documented for their needs,” said Thompson.

Maintaining an Integrated Pest Management Program

The company primarily uses Elanco Elector® PSP and CyLence® insecticides for their Integrated Pest Management (IPM) programs to control insects that may pose a threat to the welfare of their flock.

"Elanco has always provided a good source of information for us as well as efficacious products for customer programs,” said Thompson. “With a shift from poultry producers selecting their insecticide programs to now primarily using custom applicators, we are focused on assisting customers with building a holistic and compliant IPM program based on robust monitoring and data collection.”

To determine what Elanco insecticides to use, the team at Clear View Farm Services completes sensitivity testing through their own darkling beetle trials. Based on the data, the team comes up with a program using Elanco products best suited for the customer. All of this data is housed on the company’s website, which is useful for historical context and future recommendations based on active ingredients, current challenges and more.

“In IPM, everything is based on monitoring and our business centers on that,” said Thompson. “We monitor the effectiveness of the pesticides we use and continually rotate the effective class to provide optimum control. Our customers can access their data 24/7 and use that for any audits they encounter.”

By using Elanco insecticides, Clear View Farm Services has been able to maximize one portfolio of products. Visit ElancoPoultry.com/Insecticides for more information on how Elanco insecticides can control pests on your flocks and in your poultry facilities.
